How NRIWAY Helped an Indian Citizen Get a Single Status Certificate for Marriage in Thailand

The Client

Priya Singh, an Indian national, was planning to marry her fiancé, a Thai citizen, in Thailand. For the marriage to be legally recognized, she needed to provide a Single Status Certificate (also known as a Certificate of No Impediment or Bachelorhood Certificate).

Since Thailand is not part of the Hague Apostille Convention, this document had to go through a detailed multi-stage legalization process, including attestation from the Royal Thai Embassy in India.

The Challenge

Priya had her single status affidavit prepared in India, but she couldn’t fly back to complete the lengthy attestation process herself. Each stage required physical submission, verification, and collection, which made it especially challenging from abroad.

The process involved:

  1. Notarization – The affidavit first needed to be notarized by a public notary in India.
  2. MEA Attestation – The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) had to attest the document with an Apostille stamp. Even though Thailand is not a Hague member, this step was mandatory.
  3. Embassy Attestation – Finally, the Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi had to verify and stamp the document for it to be valid in Thailand.

Managing this chain of verifications without a reliable service provider risked delays and could have jeopardized her wedding timeline.

How NRIWAY Helped

Priya turned to NRIWAY to take care of the entire process. A dedicated relationship manager, Ritu Verma, guided her from start to finish.

  1. Document Preparation and Notarization
Priya securely shared her affidavit draft and passport copy with the team. NRIWAY ensured the affidavit met all legal requirements and then managed the notarization in India.

  2. MEA and Embassy Coordination
The team coordinated the MEA attestation process, followed by submission to the Royal Thai Embassy. They made sure all paperwork, forms, and fees were handled correctly.
  3. Efficient Execution
Thanks to their network and experience, NRIWAY was able to move the documents smoothly through each government office without delays.
  4. Final Delivery
Once the Thai Embassy completed the attestation, the legalized certificate was securely couriered to Priya’s address in Thailand. She received timely updates through NRIWAY’s tracking system, giving her peace of mind.

Conclusion

With NRIWAY’s support, Priya received her Single Status Certificate well ahead of her wedding, fully legalized and accepted by the Thai authorities. What could have been a stressful and complicated process was handled with efficiency and care.

This case shows how expert guidance and reliable execution can make international documentation simple, allowing NRIs to focus on life’s important milestones without worrying about bureaucratic hurdles.
