External Affairs Sushma Swaraj on Monday introduced marriage certificate registration for NRIs in Rajya Sabha. This bill seeks safeguard to Indian women who married with Non-Resident Indians.
Therefore, It is necessary that Marriage solemnized or otherwise in India or outside India should registered within 30 days- The Bill Objectives stated. All the marriages should be registered and have a marriage certificate.
"It has been revoked that marriage registration must by consolidated in legislation for the enforcement of deserted spouses under the family act." it joined in bill statement.
Bill also amended the Passport Act, 1967, and Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973.
The proposed amendments to the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 would empower the courts for the issuance of warrants through the designated website of Ministry of External Affairs.
