A receipt number will then be generated that should be kept with the applicant for future reference. The whole procedure can take a week to a month to validate the information and provide the NABC. 

The process to apply for an NRI birth certificate online without traveling to India

In urban areas, the municipal corporation of the concerned state is responsible for issuing NABC. While in rural areas, it is the paramedical staff is authorized to issue the certificate. For NRIs born before 1969, the Indian consulates can issue the NABC.

Eligibility criteria for applying for an NRI birth certificate

Every Indian state has different eligibility criteria for the issuance of NABC. for instance, in Delhi, the following criteria should be fulfilled-

1. An NRI or an individual who is a citizen of India, born within NCT of Delhi jurisdiction.

2. The individual should not have any birth certificate issued from anywhere in India.

3. There must be a minimum one year gap between the date of birth and date of making.
