Immigration to USA
Are you thinking about coming to the United States or sponsoring someone? Immigration visas in the United States are granted based on family relationships, work, adoption, special immigrant categories, and the diversity visa.
Family-Based Immigration
An immigrant visa is required for a foreign national who wishes to live permanently in the United States (IV). To be eligible to apply for an IV, a foreign citizen must be sponsored by an immediate relative who is at least 21 years old and is either a U.S. citizen or a U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident (that is, a green-card holder).
There are two types of family-based immigrant visas:
Immediate Relative – These visas are granted on the basis of a close family tie with a US citizen, such as a spouse, child, or parent. Each fiscal year, the number of immigrants in these categories is not regulated.
Family Preference – These visas are intended for certain, more distant familial links with a US citizen, as well as some specific relationships with a Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR). Each fiscal year, the number of immigrants in these categories is limited.
Employment-Based Immigrant Visas for Immigration to USA
To be eligible for an immigrant visa under some of the employment-based categories listed below, the applicant's potential employer or agent must first acquire Department of Labor labour certification approval. Once received (if necessary), the employer submits an Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker, Form I-140, to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for the appropriate employment-based preference category. (NOTE: People with exceptional talents in the Employment First preference category can file their own petitions.) When submitting the Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker, Form I-140, review the comprehensive form instructions as well as additional extensive required information on the USCIS Permanent Workers homepage.

Visa Interview process for Immigration to USA
When the NVC confirms that the file has all of the relevant documentation, they arrange the applicant's interview. NVC subsequently forwards the dossier, which includes the applicant's petition and the above-mentioned papers, to the US Embassy or Consulate where the applicant will be examined for a visa. The applicant, attorney, and third-party agent, if appropriate, will get appointment emails, or letters (if no email address is provided), detailing the date and time of the applicant's visa interview, as well as instructions, including information on obtaining a medical examination.
Each candidate should bring a valid passport to the interview, as well as any additional paperwork listed above that has not previously been supplied to NVC. A consular official will interview the application and evaluate whether the applicant is qualified to get an immigrant visa under US immigration law.
