Live updates on Indian Americans in the US Election of 2024: Six Indian Americans are elected to the US House, and one more is up for grabs

Indian Americans Election 2024 Live: On election day, voters nationwide cast their final ballots and Americans await the results.

On Tuesday, Donald Trump votes in the US presidential election in Florida. Following the voting process, the presidential candidate told the public that if it was a "fair election," he would be the first to accept his defeat.

In six states, including Georgia, the first polls will close at approximately 7:30 a.m. IST (5:30 p.m. ET). At 12 a.m. ET (10:30 a.m. IST), the final polls will close in the red state of Alaska and the blue state of Hawaii. Counting will begin when the total votes finish at 1 pm ET (11:30 am IST).

Shortly after the first polls shut at 6 p.m. Eastern Time (22:00 p.m. GMT), the preliminary results are anticipated. All 50 states will have voting, but seven key swing states will be essential in deciding the outcome of the election.

Nine Indian Americans are running for seats in the U.S. House of Representatives in election cycle. Four of them are running for the first time in congressional elections, and five incumbents are running for reelection.

The first Indian American to serve Virginia and the East Coast in Congress is Suhas Subramanyam, who was elected from Virginia's 10th District.

Re-elected to a seventh consecutive term in California's 6th District, Ami Bera continues to hold the title of senior Indian American Congressman.

Raja Krishnamoorthi was re-elected to the 8th District of Illinois for a fifth term.

Ro Khanna: He kept his seat in the 17th District of California.

Pramila Jayapal was re-elected to the 7th District of Washington.

In the 13th District of Michigan, Shri Thanedar was re-elected.

Furthermore, although the outcome is still pending, Dr. Amish Shah is ahead in Arizona's First Congressional District.
